Revlon Oval One-Step Hair Driver + Volumizer | Does this work?!

Revlon Oval One Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer Review | @girlythingsby_e
This post contains press samples, affiliate and referral links.*

Ever stumbled on a new hair tool that seemed like a genius idea but you just weren't sure if it would actually work?

Me too.

And I've gotta be honest with ya. My powers of skepticism are strong. Most of the time, my thought process goes a little something like this:

Me: Hmmm... well this looks interesting. Should I get it?
Me: Can this actually work on my thick hair?
Me: I'll probably end up looking like a French poodle with continental hair cut
Me: Or worse, with a gimmicky product hopelessly tangled in my hair
Me: OMG. What if the heat melts the plastic and this damn thing gets tangled in my hair?
Me: I do NOT need to look like frizzy poodle who got attacked by a hair styler.
Me: You're right, this is probably a gimmick. Stop being lazy and just do your hair the old fashioned way.
Me: *Backs away terrified and empty handed*

Clearly, I have issues that I need to deal with.

So when Revlon offered to let me test out their new Oval One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer ($59.99), I decided it was time to stop talking myself out of trying something new.

At best, it will work and I could tell you all about an awesome new tool. At worse, the above scene would unfold on camera and serve as a cautionary tale for all of us.

Hair grows back and burns heal, right?

Either way, you get to make a smart purchasing decision -- so my job is done.

Now, before we jump in to the demo and review, let's talk a little bit about the new Revlon Oval One-Step Hair Dyer.

Here's what the product claims (directly from Revlon's site):

The salon One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer is designed to deliver gorgeous volume and brilliant shine in a single step. The unique oval brush design quickly creates frizz-free volume at the root and beautifully full-bodied curls at the ends in a single pass, for salon blowouts at home. Boosted by ionic technology, hair dries faster with less heat-related damage.
Ok, on to the important question: Does this thing work?! Watch me put it to the test.

Top Five Beauty Favorites | July 2016

This post includes products I purchased myself,  press samples, affiliate and referral links.*

I can't believe July is over and that fall is just around the corner. I'm not ready. I live in Florida and have been so busy at work I've basically squandered my summer and barely made it out to the beach this year. Unacceptable.

But what I've neglected in beach time, I've made up for in product testing. So today I'm bringing you my favorite beauty products from the month of July.

As you know we really like to narrow down the list to the most extra special items: My beauty top five.

So let's not waste any more time and get right into it. Check out the products I've been loving (and why) in my video below. But first, comment and tell me some of your recent favorites so I can go test out new products and spread the word!

Macademia Professional Weightless Moisture Line (Shampoo | Conditioner | Leave-in ) | Eva NYC Speed it Up Blow Dry Spray* | Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil (Shade 03) | Benefit High Brow (Linen Pink) | Make Up For Ever Brush #108*

Products I've Used Up | Haircare | #Empties

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! For those of us in the U.S. it was a holiday. Hooray Independence Day!

Did you guys do anything fun? Have some yummy BBQ? Lounge by the pool? Frolic on the beach? All of the above?

The hubs and I went to see The Dirty Heads and Sublime on Sunday. So Monday turned out to be a low key day. Kicked off the 4th with a big brunch. Grabbed groceries to stock up the fridge. And settled onto the couch like pair of potato sacks. I was going to take advantage of the gorgeous weather to spend the day at the pool (I could not brave the holiday beach crowd). But the food baby in my stomach had other plans for me. Those plans involved spending the day digesting my meal. So basically I squandered the day away -- and it was kind of glorious. Every once in a while, that's just necessary.  Because today I feel refreshed.

So, now I'm ready to dive through my beauty trash to explore all the haircare products I've used up lately(ish) and tell you whether they're worth purchasing (not all of them are...).

Reminder: I have dry hair that I bleach and heat style. The products I use will be geared towards replenishing much needed moisture and protecting my hair from styling abuse. There's a lot of conditioner in this video. You'll see.

What type of hair products do you go through the most?

Review: L'Oreal Extraordinary Oil Haircare | #ExtraordinaryHair

* This post contains press samples *

If you follow me on Snapchat (@girlythingsby_e, if you don't... hint hint), then you know I recently received the L'Oreal Extraordinay Hair voxbox. It included the full line of Extraordinary Oil products that they just released.

Have you seen these at your local drugstore lately? I know I keep seeing them prominenty featured on end cap displays. So I bet you have too.

The line claims to transform dry, dull hair into a lustrous and silky soft  strands as quickly as one wash and with none of the added weight or greasiness sometimes attributed to moisturizing hair products.

In case you're wiping your eyes to read that again. Yes, they just claimed results in one wash. And these products are even supposed to be good for all you fine haired folks out here.

If you've walked by these new displays and wondered whether the products live up to the hype, then it's probably how you found yourself reading this post.

Good news. My hair played guinea pig for you. I'm here to tell you whether these hair products are worth your money. Watch the video below to find out.

By the way, no actual animals were experimented on or harmed in the making of this video.

Review: Not Your Mother's Whip it Up Cream Styling Mousse

Oh why, hello there. It's me again. Sorry for the momentary absence. Everyone in my household (that means me too) has been super sick. And whatever germs we were carrying totally kicked our asses. We're talking bed ridden and house bound for nearly two weeks. It's been awful.  Even as I type this, I have the remnants of a cough and sniffles. You know, the ones that stick around long after you no longer feel like you're on the brink of death forcing you to remember the horror you just experience (as if you really needed that). So that's what I've been going through -- among other fun stressors. I hope you've been having a much better February so far.

But enough with the gloomy update. Because today I have a little fun to share with you. And to be quite honest, I needed a bit of fun in my life after that sickly experience.

I'm back with you to tell you about one of the products I got in my Influenster Spice Voxbox. And that product is the Not Your Mother's Whip it Up Cream Styling Mousse ($3 for 3oz, $6 for 7 oz). Now I haven't used styling moussed since the dark ages when I was in middle school and I avoid looking at pictures from those days because the crunchy, wet-look disaster gives me nightmares.

But guess what? Mousse has come a long way since those days. And the Not Your Mother's mousse is actually formulated to provide volume and hold without making it look like you dipped you hair in super glue. And bonus, it smells like vanilla cupcakes. Yum!

Check out my review below to find out all the details and whether I think it's worth the purchase.

Influenster Spice Vox Box Unboxing

I got another Influenster Vox Box! This time, they selected me for the Spice Vox Box.

If you don't know about Influenster, I'm pretty sure anyone can sign up and join. You then connect your social media accounts and answer some questions. Based on your interests, Influenster will select you to receive certain boxes and products and you are expected to test the products out and review them and share your thoughts on social media. Influenster will provide you with a variety of different options for how to share products on your social media. For example, if you get a hair product, or a makeup product, you may be asked to share a photo of you using the product on Instagram or tweet your favorite thing about that product, etc.

If they think you'll be a good fit for an upcoming voxbox, they'll send you a survey. You'll answer the survey questions, and then they'll determine if you'll get the next box. If you are, they'll send it. You won't know what's in the box or what kind of products you're getting until the box arrives (so there's no way -- at least none that I know of -- to cheat the system and respond to survey questions in a way that would get you selected for a box).

OK, consider yourselves a little more informed. Now let's take a look at what I got in my recent Spice Vox Box.

Ipsy Unbagging | October 2015 featuring The Balm Meet Matt(e) Hughes Lipstick

You guys, my ipsy bag is here! I just made filming and uploading in October by the skin of my teeth! Nevertheless -- I did it. So let's celebrate this victory by watching my video to take a peek into the beauty goodies I received this month.

Are you guys impressed with my consistency lately (I sure am)? Does anyone even care? Are you guys even out there?

Ha - I'm having an existential crisis on the internet. Not a good look.

For all of you out there on the interwebs who are new to the ipsy thing -- here's the low down:
  • You can join Ipsy for $10 (+ tax) per month. Every month you get five (5) personalized beauty samples. They typically include at least one full-size product and the rest of the items are deluxe samples (usually travel sized). In other words, you get a lot more than $10 worth of products.
  • You can get additional discounts using Ipsy discount codes if you decide to buy full-sized versions of the products you received.
  • You can earn points by reviewing the products you receive or through referrals and you can use those points to add additional items to your glam bag (as you'll see in this month's video)
  • Also -- just as an aside -- I pay for my subscription out of pocket, so these posts are not sponsored nor are the items press samples.
Now you can consider yourself fully informed. Onward with the unbagging video!

Review: Kerastase Resistance Shampoo + Conditioner | #KerastaseTransforms

Influenster selected me for it's #KerastaseTransforms vox box and I couldn't be more excited! I have naturally dry hair and my propensity to color and heat style leads to fried ends and damage. So when I received the Kerastase Resistance Bain Therapiste line, for very dry and damaged hair, I was elated.

Check out my video review before to see how the products work and what I thought of the results.

Unboxing: Ipsy Glam Bag July

Hello everyone! I've been lazy about posting lately. Consistency seems to be my Achilles heel. I vow to do better, but then I just go back to my evil ways. I'm working on this.

But, I'm back again. So let's not dwell on the past and enjoy the right now. Let's dive in to see what I got in my July Ipsy Glam Bag -- because getting a beauty surprise in the mail for $10/month is fun. You know you love it.

Oh, let's get little disclaimers out of the way too:

  • I pay for my Ipsy subscription out of pocket. That means this video is not sponsored and the items received were not press samples.
  • You too can join Ipsy and get your own little monthly beauty surprise. For $10 (+ tax)/month you get five (5) personalized beauty samples. They typically include at least one full-size product and the samples received are deluxe size (typically travel size actually). What does that mean? You get more than $10 worth of product and the samples are big enough to get several uses out of each product (so you know whether or not it works for you).
Alright, now we can carry on with the fun stuff. Enjoy!

Disclosure of Material Connection: Some of the links in the post above are “referral links.” This means if you click on the link and purchase the item, I will receive a referral reward (e.g., earn points that can be applied for discounts or add ons to future purchases). Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will add value to my readers. Video: Influenster J'Adore VoxBox "Unboxing"

I was recently selected to receive the J'Adore Voxbox from Influenster. I was pretty surprised to get the email asking me to fill out the survey (to see if I qualified) because I haven't exactly been active on Influenster. By the way, by "haven't exactly been active" I actually mean, I signed up and linked my accounts. I haven't done anything else since, which is why I was surprised. I thought you had to write reviews and actively participate to bring up your score and get selected for things.

Oh well. Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, I filled out my survey and was quickly notified I'd be receiving the J'Adore Voxbox, which would have some beauty items in it. (At least I got chosen for something that's in line with my blog and channel).

Watch the video below to see what I got.

By the way, Influenster members who receive Voxboxes are expected to participate in the various challenges the product brands are hosting, share photos or videos of their box contents on social media, and share their opinions on the products. Essentially, stuff I already do.

I'm excited to test out the beauty products sent and tell you all about them (like normal). But I'm also quite curious to see how this whole Voxbox situation works out and whether I'll get the chance to check out more cool blog-appropriate products in the future.

Have any of you gotten one of these Voxboxes before? Have you tried any of the products I received? Any favorites? Dish!

Drugstore Beauty | It List vol. 3

We're well into February now and it seems to me it's high time for a new edition of the Drugstore Beauty It List. If you're new to this series, I basically choose six drugstore beauty items that I've been loving and tell you about the. I try to post a new It List every month.

I try out a lot of new items all the time, and I don't always have time to review all of them. The It List is a great way for me to share some of my favorites with you, while giving you an abbreviated review. Whenever a full review is available for a product listed, I'll link to it.

Now let's take a gander at this month's favorites.

Drugstore Beauty - It List, Garnier Clean+ Purifying Foam Cleanser, Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover, Nivea A Kiss of Care and Color, L'Oreal Elnett hairspray, Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder, NYX Wonder Pencil, @girlythingsby_e

Garnier Clean+ Purifying Foam Cleanser

If you have combination skin, it's time to rejoice. Garnier released a new line of skin cleansers and two of them are geared specifically for those of us with combination skin. The Purifying Foam Cleanser is meant to strike the delicate balance between deep cleaning oil annihilation and gentle moisturizing cleansing. Finally, we can have it all. Oil control without dehydrating your non-oily areas. I immediately noticed that my skin felt more balanced and produced less oil throughout the day. After a week, my skin was also noticeably softer. Read my full review for more details.

Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover

This product is a god send. I think everyone needs a bottle of this in their home. Not only does it help you treat stubborn cuticles and improve your manicure game, it also helps dissolve stubborn calluses too. This little $5 bottle also lasts a long time. I've been using it for several years now, and I think I've only on my fourth bottle. I use it at least once a week too. So here's the deal, you apply the serum/gel along your cuticle. Wait about 30 seconds. Then push your cuticles back. The product dissolves the cuticle, which means a lot less trimming (I still go in and trim here and there, but it's quite minimal. And yes, I know, you're not supposed to. But I do). Read my review here

Nivea A Kiss of Care and Color (new item)

I'm a big fan of Nivea lip balms. They're always so buttery smooth and superbly moisturizing. They recently released a new line called A Kiss of Care and Color and it's been popular. I went to three stores before I got my hands on these. The were sold out everywhere. I purchased two of the four available and I love it. They give you the moisture you're used to from Nivea with a pretty sheer hint of color. The color is just enough to be noticeable and you can build it up (though it'll still be sheer).

Even better: The shade Sheer Berry is practically an exact color dupe for Clinique's Black Honey (which has a huge cult following). If I had to find a difference, Nivea's is just the slightest bit more red. But wearing them side by side, the difference is imperceptible. So go ahead and save about $10 and pat yourself on the back.

L'Oreal Elnett Hairspray

This has been the only hairspray I've purchased since discovering it about 4 years ago (maybe longer?). I'm not a huge fan of crunchy, stiff hairspray hold and this was the first hairspray I came across that gave me hold while still being flexible. Best of all, it brushes right out, which is absolutely perfect for me since I don't like to wash my hair every day. I know some people don't like the strong perfume-like fragrance on this one. Fear not, they make an unscented version too.

NYX Wonder Pencil

This aptly-named little gem is a versatile little miracle. You can use it for so many different things. You can spot conceal (note: these run light so if you plan to conceal a blemish, try a shade darker than what you use, otherwise you'll highlight it), use it to highlight under your brow, inner corner, and even hide fine lines. Give your eyes a little lift. Line your lower water line when you didn't get enough sleep. You'll pay less than $4.50 and find yourself reaching for this little pencil more often than you'd expect. Check out my full review and video demonstration for how I like to use it.

Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder

This new powder contains 60% less talc, which means you can apply it over your makeup without over mattifying your skin. It feels light and silky smooth without the telltale chalky effect that tends to cling to imperfections. Available in 16 shades, you're likely to find one that works for you. A word to the wise: These run a little dark and they do deposit color. Choose one shade lighter than the color you normally get.

There you have it. Did any of your favorite products make it to the It List this month? Any favorites you'd recommend I check out? You might just see it mentioned in future postings. Comment below, let's discuss.

Holiday Gift Guide 2013: Beauty Gifts $30 or less

Beauty Gifts $30 or less

Makeup and beauty tools:

It's quite possible to purchase quality makeup and brushes for affordable prices, especially during the holidays with all the great gift sets. Best of all, you don't always have to hit up a specialty store to find them. Case in point, the Sonia Kashuk Eye on Neutral Limited Edition matte and shimmer palette is available at Target and offers fantastic pigmentation and easy blending. Speaking of blending, you can also find a Real Techniques brush set while you're there.

If your giftee prefers high-end brand (how particular of him/her) don't fret. Stila has a great lip glaze set that includes nine glosses and a brush set both just under $30. There's also Anatasia Beverly Hills waterproof liner set and Benefit's cute LuveiIt Up kit, which includes three neutral shadows, a mini creaseless cream shadow, and Dandelion lip gloss. For the bold diva on your list, check out MAC's Viva Glam 1 holiday set that includes the original lipstick and gloss inspired by RuPaul. Bonus, every cent you pay for the set goes to HIV/AIDS research, so it's a do-good, look-good gift.

Hands and nails:

If you've got a nail obsessed giftee on your list, instead go for a little something different than  nail polish and try this Model Hands set by Julep. Help your nail fashionista take care of her hands and tips so all the fun colors and designs she wears will look even better on her soft smooth and nourished hands.

Hair

If you're gifting a gal (or guy) with luscious locks, consider helping her (or him) discover some awesome new hair products. Alterna's Caviar kit is a great anti-aging hair travel set that will help keep locks nourished, shiny, and full -- all signs of a youthful mane. And if Jennifer Aniston is his/her hair icon (and honestly, isn't she everyone's?) give them one of the various Living Proof hair care travel kits to address a variety of hair needs. My personal favorite is the  No Frizz Smoothing and Frizz Fighting line. Fantastic humidity fighting products that are light weight, smell great, and leave your hair looking ah-ma-zing.

Video: Products I've Used Up

girly things by *e*, girlythingsbye, girlythingsby_e, product empties, video

I've been meaning to record this video for ages, as evidenced by the sheer number of items that I just let build up in my closet. Yes, I was basically hoarding trash in my closet. Not the stinky gross kind of trash, but empty bottles and containers of some of my favorite (and not so favorite) mostly beauty products.

At long last I've filmed and thankfully tossed the pile of products I was shamefully hiding. Some of the products in this video I've already reviewed, which means you can easily access more detailed information about them (other than whether or not I was a fan). I'll link those all for you below.

Items shown in the video (linked items will take you to my review of that product):
  • Generic versions of Cetaphil cleanser - original formula and sensitive skin formula
  • Yes to Grapefruit daily face scrub
  • DDF brightening cleanser
  • Thayer's alcohol-free rose petal witch hazel toner with aloe vera
  • Sephora Triple Action Cleansing Water
  • Nivea Sun-Kissed Radiant Skin gradual tanning daily moisturizer
  • Sensodyne Pronamel gentle whitening toothpaste

  • Vaseline Spray & Go moisturizer
  • St. Ives Naturally Indulgent Coconut Milk & Orchid Extract lotion
  • Sephora Microsmooth Foundation
  • Neutrogena Rainbath shower gel

What's in my beach bag?

Summer is upon us and so is the holiday weekend. Since so many of us will be celebrating in the sun, I thought I'd share a post giving you a little peek into my beach bag. Here are the things you'd find if you went rummaging through my bag.

  1. Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration sunscreen - Here's a little nugget of truth for you: I no longer lay out in the sun to tan. We all know the various reasons why we shouldn't, let's not rehash them here. Suffice to say, my tan comes straight out of a bottle. When I'm at the beach, I slather on SPF 30 and sit under an umbrella. I really like Hawaiian Tropic's Silk Hydration sunscreen because it hydrates my skin (a must after spending time in the drying salt water) while it protects. Plus, it smells good. I usually apply this before I head out to the beach to give it time to absorb into my skin.
  2. Australian Gold continuous spray sunscreen with bronzer - If you poke through my beach bag, you'll easily find a few different sunscreens. I love the Australian Gold continuous spray sunscreen with bronzer because I can protect my skin while adding a little  color to enhance my self tan.
  3. Neutrogena Clear Face liquid sunscreen - Yep, another sunscreen. I love this one from Neutrogena because it dries matte and keeps your skin from getting oily. It also helps prevent breakouts while it protects your skin.
  4. Brightly colored beach towel - This one's pretty self explanatory. You need a towel, whether to lay on or dry off (or both). I love an over sized towel in vibrant colors.
  5. Hat - If I don't have an umbrella handy to sit under, I'll be rocking a hat to provide some shade for my face while simultaneously protecting my scalp from the harsh rays. I'm partial to a straw fedora because it's light weight and a bit breezy.
  6. Hair ties - Sometimes you just need to pull your hair up into a bun or at the very least out of your face. I always keep a few spare hair times around for a quick and easy hair fix.
  7. Sunglasses - It's bright outside so I need to protect my peepers with some shades. The last time I was a the beach without them I suffered a massive headache from all the glare off the sun and water. From that moment on, I said, "Never again." You won't catch me out at the beach or by the pool without my sunglasses. My favorites? My Ray-ban aviators.
  8. Flip flops - If you're hanging out by the pool or beach you need a good pair of flip flops. I recently purchased these (pictured) at Clarks and I totally love them. They're sturdier than rubber flip flops, plus I love the brown and white combo, they go with anything I wear to the beach.
  9. Lip balm with SPF - At any moment in time, you'll easily find at least two lip balms in my purse. It's no different when it comes to my beach bag, except the lip balms I take to the beach must have SPF. Among my favorites: Carmex (in the tube), Blistex, and Nivea Kiss of Recovery (pictured).
  10. My iPhone - This little multitasker keeps me in touch with my friends, serves up some awesome tunes, and takes pictures of our fun day out.
  11. Cover up - I love a maxi dress. We've covered this before. So chances are, I'll throw one on as a cover up when I'm headed to the beach or pool.
  12. String bikini - My opinion: the string bikini is the most flattering cut out there. You can adjust it to fit whether you're a little bloated or dropped a few lbs. Either way, it's not squeezing your hips giving you the dreaded and unflattering muffin top.
Bonus item: Another item you'll normally find in my beach bag that's not in the photo above: spray-on leave in conditioner. I apply a generous amount to my hair after a dip in the water. It keeps my hair hydrated, detangled, and soft. I don't have a preferred brand, just any one I happen to pick up and have handy at the time.

What are some of your beach bag must haves?

Photo Inspiration: Boho Braids

There's something about summer that brings out the boho-girl in me. The season just exudes a laid back lifestyle. And the heat just makes the relaxed, flowing style more practical. Plus, it's a pretty significant (and welcome) departure from the buttoned-up, rapid pace of my daily corporate life.

Braids seem to go hand in hand with the summer feel. After all, their romantic, flowing, and to work best they require day-old (a.k.a dirty) hair. Perfect when you need to look nice after spending the day in the sun and sand. Not to mention convenient, lazy summer days don't really lend themselves to daily blow outs.

Check out all the great ways you can look cute and put together while you battle summer's heat.

The waterfall braid is so cute. It looks amazing on day-old beach waves and can take you from a day out on the beach to date night. The trick is to learn how to do them, which I've yet to master.

I'm personally partial to the loose side braid (or fishtail if you're getting bored with your everyday braids). It's a great way to pull your hair back without resorting to a pony tail. You can wear it sleek and sweet like Selena Gomez or amp it up for a night out by giving it some volume on top with a bit of teasing.

Add a little texture to a sleek hair do by adding a braid. I love how Isla Fisher does it here, while simultaneously pulling her hair away from her pretty face. Another option is to add just a few small braids your hair like the gals below.

The braided top knot is a great way to do an updo that's simple and has a little texture. Who best to show us how it's done than the queen of boho-chic style herself, Mrs. Nicole Richie.

Favorite Warm Weather Beauty Products

1. St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Lotion ($32) & Sun Labs Self Tanning Lotion ($37) | 2. Smashbox Camera Ready CC Cream ($42) | 3. Nivea A Kiss of Recovery lip balm ($3) | 4. Australian Gold Spray-on Suncreen with Bronzer ($10) | 5. Neutrogena Clear Face sunscreen ($10) | 6. Aveda Sun Care Protective Hair Veil ($27) | 7. Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer ($6)
Warm weather is here and it's time to change up some of your beauty routine. The stuff that worked wonders for you when it was a little cooler out likely can't stand up to the heat and humidity. Living in Florida, where it's hot and humid most of the year, I feel like I've gotten a lot of practice choosing products that are warm-weather friendly.

I bet you're all probably wearing a lot less clothing, which means exposing a lot more skin. And lot's of you are probably spending a lot more time in the sun hoping to develop a nice tan to accompany your short shorts. But let me tell you, there's not need to expose your skin to the harmful effects of the sun just to gain a little color. You can get a great tan from a bottle these days and my two favorite brands (St. Tropez and Sun Laboratories) can give you a deep, dark, natural-looking tan without the future skin damage.

While we're chatting about tans, let's discuss some great alternatives to help you protect your skin. Australian Gold makes sunscreen that has bronzer in it to help you fake a great glow while you hang out with your friends and family at the beach or by the pool. It'll give you great color, but it won't be quite as dark as Jergens, St. Tropez, or Sun Labs. On the plus side, you won't look quite so pale while you lounge on the sand and you won't go home with a blistering sunburn.

Don't forget to protect your lips, hair, and scalp while you're out frolicking in the sun. If you're not keen on wearing a hat, spritz on some of Aveda's sun care hair veil. It's light weight, smells beachy, and will keep you from burning your scalp while protecting your hair color from fading in the sun. For lips, I'm keen on Nivea's Kiss of Recovery balm because it protects with SPF 15, moisturizes amazingly and feels buttery on your lips. It may not have a fun food-like scent, but unlike it's sister Kiss of Protection, it doesn't taste like you're eating a bottle of sunblock.

You're skin care and makeup routines will need an overhaul too now that it's hot as can be outside. Who really wants to pack on lots of products only to have them melt off and clog pores? Consider swapping out your foundation, moisturizer, and facial sunscreen for one product: Smashbox's CC cream. It offers amazing coverage, looks like skin, moisturizes, protects, corrects uneven skin tone, and controls oil. I've worn this to the beach and it held up like a charm. Imagine how it will perform on an everyday basis. (Check out my full review here) And if you're not into wearing any kind of makeup to the beach, consider checking out Neutrogena's Clear Face liquid lotion sunscreen. It's oil free, keeps your skin matte all day, and comes in a variety of SPF levels. I'm personally partial to the SPF 30 and I like using this as my daily SPF too (if I'm not wearing my CC Cream).

Let's not neglect the rest of our body while we're overhauling our beauty products. Your skin still needs moisture, but who likes the feeling of lotion oozing from your pores when you start to sweat? You know the feeling: your moisturizer had already absorbed into your skin and then you start to sweat and suddenly you're extra slick. Vaseline's Spray & Go moisturizer helps solve this problem. It absorbs quickly while giving your skin the moisture it needs without the weight. Check out my full review here.
