Wedding Files: Flower Inspiration

I'm having a tiny little dilema. I've been looking at the classic calla lily bouquet, and loving it for quite some time now. I mean, it's gorgeous. How can you go wrong? I was even hoping for a bouquet, kind of like the one pictured below, because I like how the stems are long, and it's not too thick. I never knew how heavy a bouquet could be until I went to a bridal show and picked a few up. I like the idea of easily being able to hold it with one hand.

But, recently, I came across several pictures of anemones. Our wedding colors are black and white, or as Kris Jenner so appropriately said for the Kim wedding special extravaganza: black, white, and sparkles. The more I see these pictures, the more I like them. What a pretty bouquet! I just love how it incorporates the black and white theme without looking overly black. I don't want to evoke the thought of a funeral.

So, I'm torn, the classic callas I've loved, or the fun and whimsical anemones. Maybe there is a way to incorporate both. I guess I'll have to think on it.

Another trend I've seen and just loooooved are the brooch bouquets. Oh. My. God. They are so gorgeous! And they certainly incorporate a lot of sparkle. You just know I love that! Hahahahaha! But, I don't think I can give up real flowers. They are just so nice too. Still, the brooch bouquets are nice to look at, so check out these gorgeous pictures below.

So, what do you ladies think? Aren't they just stunning?

Wedding Files: Theme Inspiration

I love the idea of a vintage-inspired wedding. I love the speakeasy theme even more. I just love the rich colors in these photos, the gorgeous fashions, and the fun ambiance. And, with an open bar, how appropriate is the theme? So fun.

Many thanks to itweddingsflorida.com for posting this collage. I love it!

Wedding files: Makeup Ambition

Well, I'm on a roll, scouting out photos of hair and makeup ideas for my files and to share with you. I have a hair and makeup trial that I signed up for at a bridal show (hey, it was free, I'll take it), this afternoon. I wanted to be prepared. And really, how appropriate is this post for my blog? The beauty obsessed shares her wedding makeup ambitions.

What do you think of these?

I want to look etherial, glowy, and dramatic. I mean, I'm a makeup girl, I can't very well look like I do every day with my make up routine, right? I'm really diggin' the red lip, I'm pretty sure my Nars Cruella is going to be my trusty companion that day, and I can't shy away from a smokey eye. Don't get me wrong, I love the pin up girl look: red lips, understated eye, winged out liner. But this day is a special day, and I want my eyes (personally, my favorite feature) to stand out. Since I'm shooting for a bold lip, I figured the best way to do a smokey eye, is to go with a softer, bronzy brown, and lashes that would make anyone envious. I'm really loving Hayden's look.

Wedding Files: Hair Inspiration

As you may already know, I'm planning my nuptials. It's primarily to blame for my recent blog hiatus. My weekends and nights have been consumed by all things bridal. I spend most of my free time on the internet, updating guest lists on The Knot, looking for vendors, emailing vendors, signing contracts, and looking at pictures for inspirations.

I've been shying away from sharing all of these things with you because I am often so exhausted by the end of the day that I can't muster up the energy to write up a post. But it finally dawns on me today that I don't need a long, eloquent blog post to share all these things with you, and include you on my journey. A special thanks to all the lovely ladies at the Blogger Brilliance for helping me realize this.

So, I'll be posting about my wedding plans by sharing photos of the things that are inspiring me. I want to keep the final decisions a bit of a secret. You'll get the general gist of the look and feel that I'm going for. I can't very well give it all away before the big day, now can I? I'll give the future Mr. Girly Things and avenue to peek through and discover things such as the dress. I want him to be surprised, and I want you all to be surprised when I finally post the photos after everything transpires.

Now, without further ado, here are some photos of wedding hair that are calling out to me.

Wedding Files: Tampa Bridal Show

Roses, Calla Lilies (in eggplant, which I love, but I seem to be the only one), and feathers
I was recently at a bridal show here in the Tampa Bay area, and I took a lot of picutres. What an experience! Bridal shows are a mad house. No amount of warning could have prepared me. I was exhausted by the end of it. I'd been hoping to go and get a chance to talk to some vendors, but really, the only thing you were able to do was grab their business cards and packets and move along to the next booth. There were people everywhere, and it was impossible to really talk to anyone. But, it was fun to get so see some of the things people can do.

I just wanted to share some pictures. I've always loved calla lilies and the more bouquets of them I saw, the more I love them. I'm especially smitten with the eggplant calla lilies, but I seem to be the only one. The future hubs thinks its a bit morbid to use black (eggplant!!) flowers. That's fine. But maybe the next time he gets me flowers, he'll surprise me with some eggplant calla lilies (one year anniversary anyone?)

I am also obsessed with cupcakes. I know, I know, wedding cakes are stunning. I really do think they are beautiful. But there is just something so playful and lovely about cupcakes to me. Every time I go to a wedding, the slice of cake I end up getting is so thin. I think with cupcakes people will get a nice helping of yumminess. I know I'd appreciate it. Heck, I'm hoping there are some left over, so we can take them home. I'll be off the pre-wedding healthy eating by then. Well, I'll still be eating healthy (I like being in shape), but it will be a bit more relaxed. So, I'll be thrilled to have some cupcakes around. Can we say post-wedding, late night dessert? Yes please! I'm not totally unreasonable. I want to make sure that cupcakes are a budget-friendly item (read: comparable to what it is to have a cake). If they are going to be way more than a cake, then I'm open to having a cake. But all things being equal, I'll choose the cupcakes. I've got my heart set on them.

I really like the idea of a small cake topper (the one we get to keep and eat later, is that how it goes?) with some cupcakes, kind of like this one below.

We saw a lot of cake pops at the event. That's just what it sounds like, cakes attacked to a lollipop stick. How fun! And what a great favor! I always find that I end up tossing favors away, but the edible ones, those I appreciate. These were cake pops for a bachlorette party. They were a little naughty. Be forewarned, they are risque.
