Happy New Year!

Happy new year everybody!!

I hope everyone had a safe and fun new years celebration and that you're all ready to tackle 2014. I spent it in bed with a cold. Awesome way to ring it it, but hey, sometimes these things happen.

Now that we're in a new year, I'm sure many people are considering how they resolve to do better. And even though I believe self improvement is an ongoing exercise (don't wait to improve, as soon as you figure out you can do better, resolve to do better right then), there's no reason we can't set a few goals. And sometimes, if we write them down and share them with others, we feel more accountable for making it happen. So in the spirit of improvement, I'd like to share my blog-related goals for this coming year.

Last year, I resolved to blogging on a regular basis. But whenever I told myself I'd blog every day, I failed miserably. Time, work, and topics challenged me a lot. So instead, I decided to choose something more manageable. I told myself, I would post at least three times a week. I'm happy to say, I met that goal (with a handful of exceptions because heck, I'm human). Giving myself a manageable goal, helped keep me motivated.

I resolve to keep that up. But to add to it, I resolve to start using a publication calendar to help me keep track of the posts and ideas I want to publish. I think getting organized with my posts will go a long way to improve regular updates on this blog. There have been so many post ideas I've come up with and forgotten (because I didn't jot them down) or I just never got around to. I think committing to a calendar will really help me out. So that's resolution number one.

My second resolution is similar to the first, but it applied to videos. While I was good about posting on this blog regularly, I slacked off with my videos. That needs to change. I got this idea from my pal Phyrra. She resolved to post 52 videos in one year. And it worked. In fact, she blew that goal out of the water. So, thank you Phyrra for the inspiration. I resolve to post at least one video per week. That's also 52 new videos this year. And I'd love your help to achieve this goal. Share your video ideas with me so I can accumulate lots of inspiration and never run out of things to talk about. That's something I sometimes struggle with. I'll have time to film, but then won't know what I want to do a video about. I need to change that.

There you have it. I'd like to improve this blog and I think resolving to work harder on my content is the best way to do that. Now that I've put it out there, I'm accountable for making it happen.

How about you? Do you have any resolutions for this year? What are they? And how do you hope to keep yourself on track? Comment below and share your goals, let's tackle them together!
